Replacement Keyless Entry Remote Keyfob with FCC ID KOBLEAR1XT Used on Other GM 2002 Trucks

A reader of yesterday’s post on the 2002 GMC Sierra (see link here) wrote to ask if that means the factory keyless entry system on her 2002 Chevrolet Silverado 1500 also uses Remotes Unlimited part 514-1514. The answer is yes.

Either the 3-button or 4-button configuration of a remote with FCC ID KOBLEAR1XT was used on nearly all GM trucks in the 2002 model year. The list includes, Chevy Astro, Avalanche, Blazer, S10, Silverado, Suburban and Tahoe, as well as GMC C3500HD, Jimmy, Safari, Sierra, Sonoma and Yukon.

The 4-button version of this remote is sold in Pep Boys stores as CPR-8512. That version has a trunk button icon on it, but it will operate the 4-button remote used on trucks and SUVs that has “Rear2X” on the button and will also replace the 3-button version; though, of course, the trunk button will have no function if the vehicle’s original remote was a 3-button keyfob.
