2005-2006 Buick Allure and LaCrosse Keyless Entry Remotes

Buick used two different keyless entry systems and three different keyless remotes on the 2005 and 2006 Allure and LaCrosse models. The difference between the two systems is that one had extended range and one did not. Extended range is generally used for systems with a remote start feature because, as may be obvious, people often want to start their vehicle from the house with the vehicle sitting in the driveway or street and older-technology remotes were not made to transmit at this distance.

For 2005 and 2006, the first two years in which Buick offered remote start, the extended range system used two keyfobs, depending on whether or not the vehicle was equipped with remote start. GM part 22733524 (RUI part 507-1507) is a 5-button keyfob with remote start. GM part 22733523 (RUI part 508-1508) is a 4-button keyless remote without a remote start button. It is the correct 4-button remote for vehicles that have the extended range receiver installed.

Also during 2005 and 2006, Buick used a non-extended range system on Allure and LaCrosse cars. The correct remote transmitter for vehicles with this system is GM part 15252034 (RUI part 717-1717). It is a 4-button remote and, as you would expect, does not have a remote start button.

If you are buying a replacement car remote for your 2005 or 2006 Buick Allure or LaCrosse and the vehicle does not have remote start, be careful about which of the two 4-button keyfobs you buy. They look identical from the front. The only difference that will help you determine the difference between the two remotes is the GM part number shown on the back of the keyfob case.

I have a 2005 Buick Allure( Lacrosse US model) , is there a factory OEM remote starter kit that can be added on to it?
What AP codes should i look for on the build sticker to find out if it’s extended or non-extended range? or even there at all?, I bought the car used.

    Thanks

There is no factory OEM remote start system for a 2005 Buick Allure. However, you can certainly install an aftermarket remote start system on this vehicle. We generally recommend systems by Audiovox and DEI because their systems seem to be reliable and they seem most committed to staying in the market when so many are discontinuing support for systems and leaving the aftermarket alarm system business.

We bought a 2006 Buick LaCrosse that does not have a/any key fob to compare numbers. The car does NOT have remote start. It appears from your article that possibly it can be one of the two different key fobs you sell for this vehicle.
How do I know which key fob to order?

Hello Bill, thanks for contacting us.

If you don’t have the original remote that came with the vehicle, the best way to figure out the correct remote for your system is to confirm with the dealer via VIN number. We can do this for you if you would like. You can either reply to this message with your VIN number or you may give us a call at 1-877-719-1900 during normal business hours: Monday – Friday 8am – 8pm Central time OR Saturday 9am – 3pm Central time

After reading the above description for the different RKE’s for the 05-06 years for Allure/Lacrosse, I believe you have made a mistake.
I have a 2005 Buick Allure with a broken RKE and it’s part number is 22733523 and IS a 4 button remote. In the above, it states that this part number is a 5 button … sorry ain’t so. I also highly doubt that the part number 15252034 will work for a 2005 Buick Allure cuz if memory serves I just saw a couple of those at a wreckers and they are were 5 button RKE’s. I am an experienced electronics tech with a fair bit of radio savvy and my remote broke. After opening I found battery clip was broken solder and a chip cap missing. If I could just get the right value to replace it mine should work again. I bought from the wrecker a remote that looks identical to my old one and it’s guts are totally different since it’s part number is 20935330. I will go back and exchange the one I got for a 15252034 and see what it’s guts look like. I believe your mistake is that the 5 button RKE is part number 22733524, a 5 button RKE.

You are correct that GM part 22733523 is a 4-button remote and 22733524 is a 5-button remote with an added remote start button. I took a look at the original post, and I think it says that also. GM part 20935330 does look like part 22733523 but the two parts definitely are not interchangeable. The Buick Allure and LaCrosse use remotes made by Lear with FCC ID KOBGT04A. Part 20935330 is made by Omron and has an FCC ID beginning with OUC. This part was used on Buick Lucerne, but never on Allure or LaCrosse sedans. GM has a history of using look-a-like transmitters that are not compatible, which definitely makes replacing a remote more of a challenge.

When I exchange the 20935330 for the 15252034, I’ll let ya know if the guts are similar to the 22733523. If I’m lucky, they will be almost identical to the 22733523 and I can scavenge that chip cap I need for mine. And oh yeah … according to one of your competitors NorthCoastKeyless, they state … don’t go overpay at the dealership for a new FOB. Get a cheap one from us and get a locksmith to reprogram it as the 05 Buick FOBS cannot be programmed by other than a locksmith but it’s still cheaper than the dealer … uh uh … just got a quote from a locksmith for reprogram and it’s MORE than the dealership cost for a new FOB and program. How bout that for false advert. $120 for locksmith to reprogram a remote brought to them. $109 for the FOB and reprogrammed from dealership in Canada.

If you like, we can sell you a B-Grade replacement that matches your original part for $19 plus shipping. Just call us at 877-719-1900 during normal business hours. Choose option 2 for sales. Tell the sales rep that the blogger quoted you $19. You will definitely need to get it programmed by a dealer or locksmith though, unless you happen to live in the Houston area, in which case you can come by our location and we will program it.
