Did You Know: Case Substitution on Car Remotes

In the aftermarket alarm system world, we occasionally run across systems with a case by one alarm manufacturer that has a circuit board from an entirely different (and sometimes competing) company inside it. We are not sure if this is because consumers have replaced a broken case with anything they could find that was a close match for their original remote, or if it is because there are some alarm shops that assemble their own systems from miscellaneous parts they have in stock. In any case (pun intended), you may want to be aware of this issue if you are having difficulty buying a replacement part that works for your aftermarket alarm system.
