Even More on Newly Available Replacement Keyless Entry Remotes at Pep Boys

My last post (link here) mentioned that two GM remotes are available in Pep Boys stores for the first time. One was covered yesterday. The other is Remotes Unlimited part CPR-8902 (see part at this link), a versatile 5-button remote that can replace several different GM key fobs that had different button configurations but the same internal circuit board. (See full family of OUC60270 remotes at this link.)

The original equipment transmitter from GM has FCC ID OUC60270 or, in some cases, FCC ID OUC60221. Most truck and SUV vehicles using this remote are user programmable through the onboard driver information center (DIC) or the odometer menu. Most sedans, however, (and some trucks and SUVs) require dealership programming with a scan tool. The Pep Boys retail price for this remote in most stores is $58.99, a savings of more than 50% versus the dealership list price of $122.81.

This remote has remote start, lock, unlock, rear and panic buttons. The rear button icon is of a liftgate, but it serves the same function as the button on other remotes that have a trunk, rear glass or cargo door button. If a vehicle has no rear function, such as the Silverado and Sierra pickup trucks mentioned in yesterday’s blog, the rear button will serve no purpose, but the rest of the buttons will still work. And, if a compatible vehicle does not have remote engine start installed on it, then the remote start button will have no function. So, the CPR-8902 keyfob will actually work for the same applications as the 3-button remote CPR-8859 discussed yesterday.

In addition to the vehicles mentioned in yesterday’s post (Chevy Silverado and GMC Sierra pickup trucks; Buick Enclave; Cadillac Escalade and SRX; Chevrolet Avalanche, Equinox, Suburban and Tahoe; GMC Acadia and Yukon; Pontiac Torrent; Saturn Outlook and Vue; and Suzuki XL-7), CPR-8902 will work for many GM sedans, including 2006-2011 Buick Lucerne, 2006-2007 Cadillac DTS, and 2006-2011 Chevy Impala and Monte Carlo.
