Programming of GM Truck Keyless Entry Remotes with FCC ID OUC60270

Most GM trucks and SUVs built in the last 5 years have used keyfobs with FCC ID OUC60270 on the back of the case. These keyfobs have many different button configurations, but all use the same technology.

Some suppliers of replacement remotes seem to believe that these keyfobs are always user programmable. They are not. In fact, beginning with the 2011 model year, they all require dealership programming. Prior to 2011, whether or not a user could program their keyless entry system to accept a new remote depended on whether or not the Driver Information Center in their vehicle supported user programming.
