Rear Button Icons on Factory Keyless Entry Remote Transmitters

Different vehicles have different types of rear “doors”. Consequently, different keyless entry remotes have different rear function icons. We have seen keyfobs with different rear function icons for trunk, liftgate, rear glass, hatch, hatch glass and cargo door icons. A couple of vehicles even have icons for power covers over the bed on a pickup. GM is the leader in “rear function icon proliferation”. Nissan and Ford run a distant second.

The good news is that, in almost every case, whichever icon is on the rear function button, it operates the rear function of any vehicle that uses a similar remote transmitter. So, for instance, the Nissan keyless entry remote with FCC KBRASTU15 that has a liftgate icon on it (RUI part 751-1751) can be replaced by the Nissan keyless entry remote with FCC KBRASTU15 that has a trunk icon on it (RUI part 504-1504). This sometimes gives customers the opportunity to buy a less expensive replacement remote that still will work with their vehicle.
