SCS/Frigette Keyless Entry Systems Used on Itasca and Winnebago Motor Coaches?

A customer contacted Remotes Unlimited after shopping our website in search of a replacement for the SCS/Frigette remote with FCC ID G571TX318 on his Itasca motor coach. Here is an excerpt of our response:

The part that you see on our website as 317-1317 did have FCC ID G571TX318. (Link to this part.) It was a remote made by SCS/Frigette that was used with dealer-installed systems by Honda, Acura and Isuzu beginning in the early 1990s. While we cannot be 100% sure that it uses the same technology as the system on your motor coach, there is a very good probability that it did. The original part has not been made for some time and SCS/Frigette, reincarnated primarily as an air conditioning system manufacturer after bankruptcy, does not make remotes any longer.

The replacement part we offer, 317-2667, is a ReMoto brand 4-button remote that was made by cloning the original part. So, if the system used by Honda, Acura and Isuzu dealers is the same as the one used on your Itasca coach, the ReMoto should be a valid replacement.

Some older remotes can be cloned if they still work at all. If your remote uses fixed code technology — which prevailed until the mid-to-late 1990s — and it produces any signal, we may be able to create a copy of it on a new remote.

There are other possible issues though. One is that your system could be fairly old. Sometimes, the receivers fail after a long life. The second is that the system will need to be programmed to accept the new remote. Your system should be user programmable, but various components of the system in your vehicle must work to place the system into programming mode.
