“Shift” Button on Aftermarket Alarm Remote Control

Remotes Unlimited recently received an inquiry asking what the “Shift” button on an aftermarket alarm remote does. A “Shift” button is found on some keyfobs used with Autopage, Clifford (DEI), Code Alarm, Crimestopper, Megatronix and other aftermarket alarm systems. It is used when the same system is installed on two different vehicles and the consumer wants to only carry one keyfob that will operate both alarm systems. The button (or switch) “shifts” back and forth between the two vehicle systems.
