Audiovox Aftermarket Alarm Remote Controls with FCC ID beginning with ELV. . .

One of the largest manufacturers of aftermarket alarm systems is Nutek. Their FCC registrant code is “ELV”. You may not recognize the brand because very few of their systems are sold under the Nutek name. But you probably will recognize the brand name Audiovox. Most Audiovox systems are made by Nutek, so most of the aftermarket alarm remotes used on Audiovox systems start with the letters “ELV”.

We have not done a recent count, but there are scores of replacement remotes with FCC ID ELV…. Some have numeric characters following the registrant code, such as the older, but very common FCC IDs ELV777A and ELV777K. Even more common, are FCC IDs that have “AT”, then a number, then another letter, such as ELVAT6B, ELVAT0F, and so forth. Perhaps Audiovox (or Nutek) did not want to go to two-digit numbers after “ELVAT”, because they have more recently used FCC IDs that are all letters, such as ELVATDB, ELVATRBB and such. Audiovox has also used keyfobs with FCC IDs beginning with ELVMT — such as ELVMTHD.

There are literally scores of replacement Audiovox remotes that use FCC IDs that follow these basic patterns. So, when you are buying a replacement car remote and you search by FCC ID, you should take care to try to enter the FCC ID correctly. Of course, we are always here to help if you have any problems.

I have a 1998 Toyota 4runner with a security system. The black box has the FCC ID ELVMR5C on it. I can’t find a remote for this unit. Can you help?

From the available information, we believe the receiver in your vehicle that has FCC ID ELVMR5C will work with a Magnadyne remote, our part 278-1278. Your receiver is associated with aftermarket alarm system models marketed under the brands Carbine, Silencer, US Auto Alarm and possibly others. To see the remote we believe will work for your system, click on the following link to part 278-1278:
      Remotes Unlimited part 278-1278

If you have information from an old remote that worked with the system or if there is model information on the receiver, that information would be helpful in confirming our part specification. In situations such as this, where we are not 100% certain which system is in your vehicle and therefore which remote you need, we will be happy to waive any restocking fees if you decide to return the remote.

Hey, I have a 1994 Mazda Miata with an aftermarket alarm system. Its FCC ID is : ELV55AAL736R. DOC/MDC: 342 K1059. I’m looking for a remote for this unit, but I can’t seem to find much information on what unit it is, thanks.

      Hello Ryan,
The “R” at the end of the FCC ID tells us that you got that from the Receiver (“T” is transmitter). The ELV55AAL736 tells us that it is an Audiovox system which requires a code, which means we can duplicate the code onto a new remote for you.

The code is both in the remote and on the receiver. If you have the remote, you will need to open it up and look on the circuit chip for a white sticker affixed to the black, rectangular circuit chip. We would also need the circuit board number at the top left or right on the green circuit board on the side with the buttons and the battery toward themselves. This may be replacement remote that has been discontinued, and if so we need a working remote sent to our Stafford, Texas office to make a copy.

If you don’t have the remote, the same white sticker is on the receiver. We would also need to get the system model number from that receiver. The old Audiovox receivers often have a bar code with a long number, the first four of which is the model number and begins with a number nine.
