Automotive Remote Key Fobs with FCC ID ELVATDC

A visitor sent us a question about keyless entry and alarm system remotes with FCC ID ELVATDC. There are two such remotes. One has a Red LED and the other, a keyfob used with Toyota dealer-installed or port-installed systems, has a Green LED. The two remotes are not interchangeable. They look almost entirely the same except for the color of the LED light.

For most remotes that have an LED on them, the light is just there to help you know that the battery is working and sending power to the circuit board. However, for some older remotes, the LED can be an important aspect of part specification because there can be two remotes that have the same FCC ID and look the same except for the LED color, and the color of the LED means they operate at different frequencies or transmit a different signal. This is the case with systems that use remotes with FCC ID ELVATDC. Original remotes with a Green LED are not interchangeable with those that have a Red LED.

Both of the original remotes with FCC ID ELVATDC have been discontinued but there is a replacement remote for each of them. The original remote with FCC ID ELVATDC and a Green LED is now substituted by a newer Toyota remote with FCC ID ELVATDD. The new part has RUI part number 092-6435. See both the old and new remotes at the following link:

The discontinued remote with FCC ID ELVATDC and a Red LED is replaced by an Audiovox/Code Alarm part that looks entirely different and has FCC ID ELVATDB. The new part has RUI part number 495-1495. See both the old and new remotes at the following link:
