Keyhead Remote Transmitters

Keyhead remote transmitters for operting factory keyless entry systems have many different characteristics depending on which auto manufacturer produced the vehicle and what part is involved. Many manufacturers have used keyhead remote transmitters, including Chrysler/Dodge/Jeep, Ford/Lincoln/Mercury and GM in the US, and Toyota/Lexus, Honda/Acura, Mitsubishi and Subaru in Japan.

According to our informal consumer research, Keyhead transmitters are not well liked by drivers, but the auto manufacturers do seem to like them. There are many different styles. Some have remote transmitters that are user programmable. Some have transponders to facilitate theft control systems in the vehicles. Many of the keyhead remotes and keys from Chrysler and Ford are interchangeable. And in the case of older Ford keyhead remotes, the standalone keyfobs used by Ford can be programmed to work as a keyless entry remote for vehicles that came with a remote transmitter integrated with the keyhead.
