Keyhead Remotes for 2007 Toyota Yaris

A reader contacted Remotes Unlimited to determine what replacement key-and-remote she needed for her 2007 Yaris. From 2006 through 2010, Toyota Yaris vehicles used either of two different factory keyless entry systems, one for vehicles with anti-theft and one for vehicles without anti-theft.

These two keyhead remote parts are different so, in order to buy the right replacement remote, you need to know which system is on the vehicle. There are several ways to tell. (1) You can open the keyhead of your original remote transmitter and see whether or not it has a transponder in it. (2) Or, you can look at the blade of the key on your original remote. For vehicles with anti-theft, an “O” is stamped on the key blade. (3) Or, you can look on the dashboard of your car. Vehicles with an anti-theft system have an LED on the dash to the left of the air vents. This LED flashes when the key is removed from the vehicle to indicate that the anti-theft system is operating.

If you buy a replacement remote for a 2006-2010 Yaris, you will need to take your vehicle and the new part to a dealership or qualified locksmith to have the key blade cut and your vehicle programmed to accept the new part.
