Programming Car and Truck Factory Keyless Entry Remotes

We received an email today from a customer who said that he received and programmed his new keyfob from Remotes Unlimited with no problem, but that after programming the new one, his old one would not work.

This is due to a common security feature. Keyless entry system manufacturers figure that if you are programming a new remote, you may not have all of the previously programmed ones in your possession. Since you may not want someone else to have access to your vehicle via a lost or stolen remote, many keyless entry systems are designed to clear acceptance of all prior remotes when the system is placed into programming mode.

So, whenever you go to program a new remote for your vehicle, you should carry with you all of the other remotes you use for that vehicle and re-program them at the same time.
