Replacement Remotes for 2000 Honda CR-V

We recently heard from a visitor who was confused about what replacement remote is the correct one for her 2000 Honda CR-V. Well, the answer is, “it depends”.

The CR-V is one of many Honda vehicles built between 1995 and 2004 that could have had a factory keyless entry system or a dealer-installed keyless entry system. (Of course, the vehicle could also have had an aftermarket alarm system installed, but we will not try to deal with that here.)

The factory keyless entry keyfob for a 2000 CR-V is Honda part number 72147-S10-A52 (RUI part 241-1241). This 4-button remote has lock, unlock, trunk and panic buttons and FCC ID E4EG8DJ.

The dealer-installed keyless entry system part for a 2000 CR-V is Honda part number 39950-S01-A01 (RUI part 109-1109). This 4-button keyfob has lock, unlock, option and panic buttons and FCC ID A269ZUA101.

So when buying a replacement remote for your 2000 Honda CR-V or any Honda car or truck built between 1995 and 2005, be sure you search carefully to get the correct part.

      Robert:
There was no factory keyless entry system installed on 2000 CR-V LX vehicles. Honda did offer two optional dealer-installed systems.
One was a keyless entry system (with no security features). This system that used a 4-button remote with FCC ID E4EG8DJ and lock, unlock, trunk and panic buttons — our part number 241-1241. See it at this link:

The second was a security system. This system used a different 4-button remote with FCC ID A269ZUA101 and lock, unlock, option and panic buttons. This key fob is our part 109-1109. See it at the following link:

If you have an original remote for the vehicle and it has a Honda logo on it, I suggest you match the FCC ID and button configuration to select the correct part. If you do not have an original remote, your vehicle could have a Honda system that used one of these remotes, or it may have no system, or an aftermarket alarm system may have been installed on the vehicle. If you are not sure what you need, I suggest you call Remotes Unlimited during our regular business hours (8am-6pm Central time) at 281-820-0300 and select option 2 for sales. Someone at the call center should be able to help you determine what kind of system is installed on your car, if any.
