Replacing GM Keyless Entry Remotes

Many vehicle manufactures change the style of remote transmitters with each generation of keyless entry system. This is enormously helpful when you are buying a replacement car or truck remote because you can rely on visual cues to confirm your part specification.

GM has been less than helpful in this regard. GM and its prime contractors for keyless entry systems have produced many look-alike keyfobs that are not compatible. Often, these even use the same FCC ID number. So, with GM remotes, we strongly recommend that you search for a replacement part by matching the part number on your original remote or by conducting a make-model-year search on a high-quality website. < Search for a GM Remote >
