Warranty

IMPORTANT NOTE:  Remote transmitters do not operate your system right out of the box; they must first be programmed.  Please see the Technology section of this website or call RUI if you do not understand this or if you require assistance programming your remote.

It is very rare for a new remote transmitter to be defective.  Two other problems are more likely: (1) the battery in your transmitter may be weak, or (2) there may be a problem with the system receiver in your vehicle that prevents it from going into programming mode.  Remotes Unlimited checked the battery in your replacement part before it left our warehouse, but we know that batteries sometimes lose charge after that time.  For advice about how to test your battery, see "Battery Testing" under FAQs.

Our technical support personnel are very knowledgeable about remote transmitters and the systems they operate.  So, before sending in a warranty claim, please call technical support at RUI - 281-820-0300, option 3 - so that we may help troubleshoot to determine the nature of your problem.

Remotes Unlimited provides the following warranty on products:

LIMITED WARRANTY ON REMOTE TRANSMITTERS: Remotes Unlimited warrants all  remote transmitters against manufacturing defects.  Claims are limited to replacement of the defective part or, at RUI's option, a full refund of the purchase price.  The warranty period starts on the date of purchase and extends:

          •    180 days for new remote transmitters
          •    90 days for R-Grade (refurbished) remote transmitters
          •    30 days for B-grade (used) remote transmitters

This warranty covers any product defect that results in poor performance of the remote control.  It does not cover poor performance of the remote control due to damage resulting from severe impact, exposure to water or excessive heat, or improper handling or use.  The warranty also does not apply to remote control transmitters that have not been properly programmed or that do not work because of defects in another component of the customer's keyless entry or alarm system, such as the receiver.

LIMITED WARRANTY ON REPLACEMENT CASES:  Replacement case products are warranted against manufacturing defects for a period of 90 days from the date of purchase.  This warranty does not cover damage to the product caused by severe impact, exposure to extreme heat, or improper handling or use.  Warranty claims are limited to replacement of the defective product.  Under no circumstances shall Remotes Unlimited be held liable for damage to a customer’s remote transmitter circuit board, whether such damage occurs during or after assembly of the transmitter inside the replacement case.

Warranty Claim Process:  In order to file a warranty claim, the customer must call RUI's technical support line - 281-820-0300, option 3 - to report the problem.  After diagnosing the issue, our technical support representative will give customer a "Warranty Claim Record" number.  The date of this call will determine dating for purposes of meeting the warranty period.

Warranty claims require that the non-working part be returned to RUI.  An exchange or refund will be issued only after the non-working part has been received and examined by RUI.  After filing the initial claim by phone, customer should send the returned part, with correspondence providing the Warranty Claim Record number and complete contact information (including a phone number or email address) to RUI at:
