1999 Chevrolet C1500 and K1500 Pickup Trucks with Old Body Style

A reader who saw my last blog entry on 1999-2013 Silverado truck remotes (see this link) said that she has a 1999 Chevy pickup truck and the remote does not look like RUI part 517-1517 or have FCC ID KOBUT1BT as referenced in that blog post. That is possible.

GM introduced a new pickup body style in 1999 and changed the model name to Silverado at that time to highlight the redesign. Prior to that, the model name for GM trucks with the Chevrolet nameplate was either C1500 or K1500. Chevrolet continued to sell some of the old body style trucks in 1999 even after the new body style was released. The fact that the reader has a 2-button factory keyless entry remote with a different FCC ID is an indication that she has a Chevy pickup with the old body style. The keyless entry system on old body style 1999 GM trucks used a remote with FCC ID ABO1502T. See the 2-button keyfob with FCC ID ABO1502T at this link.
