Did You Know? . . . Remote Start Keyfobs

Many people do not know two very important facts about most remote start keyfobs.

First, you can usually replace a non-remote start keyfob with a remote start transmitter. For instance, Remotes Unlimited (RUI) part 859-1859 is the 3-button remote with FCC ID OUC60270 that was used on many GM trucks and SUVs beginning with the 2007 model year. RUI part 901-1901 is the 4-button remote used on the same vehicles if they were equipped with remote start. The two parts are interchangeable. Either part can be used on a 2008 Chevy Silverado truck, for instance, whether it is equipped with remote start or not.

Second, if you do choose to use a remote start keyfob on a vehicle that was not equipped to operate with remote start, the remote start button on the keyfob will do nothing. Repeat, you can not turn a non-remote-start vehicle into one with remote start simply by buying the remote with a remote start button on it.
