GM keyless entry remotes with FCC ID ABO1502T

GM used keyless entry remotes with FCC ID ABO1502T on a bunch of vehicles between 1996 and 2001. These keyfobs had part numbers such as 16245100 (4-button), 16245102 (2-button), and 16245103 (3-button), though the part numbers often appeared on the case of the remote as a range, such as 16245100-08.

We recently received an inquiry about another keyless entry remote used by GM during this period, GM part number 16255391. The customer had seen this part listed online and thought it might be their remote. However, as we told them, the remote transmitter with part number 16255391 is an export keyfob. It was not used on vehicles sold in North America. Even though it has the same FCC ID, it transmits at a different frequency and cannot be used as a replacement for the North American keyfobs listed above.

Hallo, I just have the problem that I need a new remote for my export 2000 chevy Express 2500. Can you get me one with the # 16255391? Can you tell me on what frequency this remote operates? If I can’t get a remote, is it possible to change the whole system, sender and receiver unit, to the american system?

Hello Thorsten, thanks for contacting us. We do offer two replacement remote options for a 2000 Chevy Express 2500, but they are the North American remotes that operate at 315mHz. GM part #16255391 was not used with vehicles sold in North America.

Here are the two choices we offer on our site, but remember these operate at 315mHz for North American systems only and from what it seems, you have a Non-North American system installed on your van.

And to answer your other question, yes it would be possible to change out your alarm system on your vehicle. There may be alarm or car repair shops around you that can install new systems if you can’t find a new remote for your existing system. There are also several online sites that offer alarm systems that you could install yourself, such as Code Alarm, Compustar, Viper, and many others. These are the alarm brands that are popular in North American cars.
