Iconic Subaru Factory Keyless Entry Remotes with FCC ID A269ZUA111 or NHVWB1U711

Subaru is renowned in the automotive world for producing simple cars that run well, are easy to work on, and minimize the number of part changes that occur with each new model year. As a result, Subaru factory keyless entry remote controls are among the most recognized keyfobs around. And, because they are distinctive in shape and look, they are also iconic.

For more than a half-decade, from as early as 1998 through 2005 or so, Subaru vehicles equipped with a factory keyless entry system used the same 2-button remote control with FCC ID A269ZUA111. The Subaru part number for this remote is 88036-AE060. Among other distinctive features, its orange and blue buttons made it one of the earliest factory keyless entry remotes to have color.

This part was made by Alpine. Alpine is no longer in the remote business, and Subaru has discontinued availability of a replacement part that looks like the original remote with part number 88036-AE060.

Beginning in 2004 on Subaru Forester and Impreza and in subsequent years on other vehicles, Subaru changed to a new style of remote which many describe as an upside-down tear drop. This keyfob has FCC ID NHVWB1U711. It was made with a 2-button version and a 4-button version (which added a trunk button on the front and a panic button on the back). Again, Subaru used the same remote on all vehicles for the following few years.

Conveniently, the electronics in this newer remote was the same as that used in the earlier Subaru keyfob, so the tear-drop style remotes can replace the 2-button keyfob with FCC ID A269ZUA111.
