Programming GM Keyless Entry Remotes with FCC ID OUC60270

GM factory keyless entry systems installed on several models from 2007 on, including Impala and Monte Carlo, used remotes with FCC ID OUC60270.

There seems to be some confusion about programming these keyfobs. One distributor of these remotes seems to think they are user programmable in all circumstances. This is untrue. These keyless entry remotes are user programmable only if there is a driver information center (DIC) in the vehicle and that DIC is configured to support keyfob programming. Many of the truck-platform models that used remotes with FCC ID OUC60270 did have such a DIC, but very few sedans are user programmable. More recently, GM has moved away from DIC programming for any of its vehicles. So, if you happen to be buying a remote with FCC ID OUC60270 and the seller tells you it is definitely user programmable, be cautious . . . they may not know what they are talking about.
