Remote Transmitter Functions on Audiovox and Other Aftermarket Alarm Systems

A website visitor recently bought a Corvette with an Audiovox aftermarket alarm system that came with an LCD remote transmitter (Audiovox part number 5BCR03). He asked us to explain what all of the remote functions on his vehicle are. Unfortunately, that question can not be answered based solely on the remote. Here is our email response to the website visitor:

The part number listed, 5BCR03, relates to an Audiovox aftermarket alarm system LCD remote control (RUI part 174-1174). As you correctly indicated, this part has been discontinued by Audiovox. RUI does offer a replacement part that will work with systems that originally used 5BCR03. The replacement RUI part is 077-6054, which we sell for $79.00. Here is a link to our site showing your original remote and the replacement transmitter.

With respect to your question about the functions of your current remote, I am afraid that we cannot be too specific about that. The functions of an aftermarket alarm system do not only depend on the remote transmitter, they depend on the specific alarm system model and on how that system was originally configured during installation. Your LCD remote was used with at least ten different Audiovox (Prestige and Code Alarm) systems. I suggest you look at the control module in your Corvette, determine the model that you have, and then search for a manual online. That should provide the information you need.
