Replacement KIA / Code Alarm Keyless Entry Remote Control with FCC ID GOH-3BFM2497

Some KIA keyless entry systems use a 3-button remote with KIA part number UP990-AY062. This remote has FCC ID GOH-3BFM2497. The KIA part number shows up associated with a number of vehicles, including the 2002-2004 KIA Spectra, the 1999-2001 KIA Sportage, and the 2000-2001 KIA Rio. The system was actually used as an optional equipment package, generally installed by KIA dealers, so this remote keyfob may appear in use with other KIA vehicles.

The 3-button KIA keyless entry remote control with FCC ID GOH-3BFM2497 is actually a Code Alarm part. In fact, it is compatible with a key fob used on Code Alarm systems that has an entirely different FCC ID, GOH-3BL98. (See RUI part 327-1327 for the Code Alarm part.)

Both the KIA remote with FCC ID GOH-3BFM2497 and the Code Alarm remote with FCC ID GOH-3BL98 are discontinued key fobs. They are no longer made by the OE manufacturer. However, Remotes Unlimited still has a few of the KIA remote in stock. And both remotes are user programmable for all applications.

    I have a 2000 Kia Sportage Ex I need a
KIA GOH-3BFM2497 and if so how much are they

      Anthony:
I believe the part you are looking for is our part 086-6021. (Link: http://www.remotesunlimited.com/catalog/product_info.php?products_id=122) It was used on KIA dealer-installed systems manufactured by Code Alarm. KIA has discontinued the part. To our knowledge, it is not available anywhere. Nor is there another replacement remote available with the same FCC ID – GOH-3BFM2497.

However, we do carry a full line of Code Alarm replacement parts. We believe one of these will work for your system. To confirm that it would work for your system, it would be helpful to know the number on the printed circuit board inside your original remote. It may start with “PT..” or it may have a number such as 0202 or 0215 followed by a letter. If you can call our call center at 281-820-0300 x2 on Monday and ask for Lawren or Joel, one of them may be able to help you order the correct replacement part. If for any reason the part we send does not work for your system and you need to return it, we will waive the usual re-stocking fee and give you a full refund.

do you have just the blank remote for KEYLESS ENTRY REMOTE FOB TRANSMITTER ALARM GOH-3BFM2497. I can just switch out the pc board?

It sounds as if you would like to buy just a replacement case. We do not have a replacement case that will fit a GOH-3BFM2497 part. However, we do have a working B-grade Code Alarm part 327-1327 that we would sell for $29. It is used but in very nice condition. If you wanted, you could buy that part and shift your board into the 327-1327 case. You can see and buy that part at the following link: http://www.remotesunlimited.com/catalog/product_info.php?products_id=386

I am looking for a replacement for my 2005 KIA AMANTI alarm. Also, I need to know if the unit will “search” for the correct code to activate itself or will I have to search thru hundreds of possible codes?

    • admin says:

The correct replacement remote key fob for a 2005 Kia Amanti equipped with a factory keyless entry system is Remotes Unlimited part 593-1593. You can see and buy the part at the following link:
      2005 Kia Amanti Remote

The system in your vehicle requires a computer scan tool for programming to accept a new remote transmitter. So, you will have to take your vehicle and all of the remotes you use with the vehicle to a Kia dealership or qualified automotive locksmith for programming.

If you have any further questions, call Remotes Unlimited at 281-820-0300 (or toll-free in US at 877-719-1900) and choose option 2 to speak with a customer service representative.

My son recently bought a used 2001 Kia Sportage that did not come with a key fob, only a key. The alarm goes off when he unlocks the driver door until he puts the key in the ignition. Question: will purchasing a new fob resolve the problem? How do we know which fob to purchase without the old one?

    • admin says:

2001 Sportage vehicles were not equipped with a factory keyless entry system. Instead, an optional system (with a Kia brand but made by Code Alarm) was installed at the port-of-entry or by a dealership. It is possible that your son’s vehicle has that system on it. It is also possible that another add-on system was installed on the vehicle, either by the dealership or by a previous owner.

The remote used with the dealer-installed system is our part 086-6021. It is no longer made by Code Alarm or sold by Kia. We no longer have any new 086-6021 parts in stock, but we do have 2 used (B-grade) parts in stock, which sell for $29. I checked the 2 086-6021 B-grade parts we have in stock. They are not in great shape, but they are all that is available.

You could buy one of these parts and try to program it to the vehicle, or you could first try to confirm exactly what system is in your vehicle. To do that, you would need to locate the system’s control module. It is a black box – often about 1″ x 3″ x 4″ – and is usually installed under the dashboard on the driver’s side of the vehicle. Alarm systems also have some form of shut-off switch and often an LED light. These components are generally installed on the dashboard or just below it. If you can find one of these components, follow the wire from it to the control module. There you should find some kind of identifying information, such as a brand and model number. That is generally the most useful information for identifying an otherwise unknown alarm system in a vehicle.

We have remotes available for most add-on systems. If you locate the control module, I suggest you call with the information and speak with one of our call center personnel. He or she will be able to help you identify exactly which remote you need. Our call center is open from 8am-6pm Central time M-F and from 9am-3pm on Saturday.

In order to program a new remote to work with the system, you will need to use the valet (shut-off) switch. Given the age of the vehicle, it might be wise to check and make sure you have a working valet switch. If you do not, we can provide that as well. Programming instructions and free phone tech support are included with each part.

      I hope this helps.

  5. Need replacement key for Kia Optima, 2006. Don’t have fcc number

  6. I have my code, it’s OSLOKA-310T. How much would it cost?

  7. admin says:

Sorry for the slow response to your comment. Based on the FCC ID OSLOKA-310T, your 2006 Kia Optima is the (then) new body style that used our remote 086-6434. You can see and purchase a new 086-6434 part at the following link:
2006 Kia Optima with new body style

The parts sold for this remote on our website are new Kia parts. At $159.00, a new remote can be somewhat expensive. However, we also have both “Pre-Owned” and “Re-Newed” remotes for this transmitter available. The pre-owned part is a good-condition used transmitter that we sell for $34. The re-newed part is the same part that has been re-cased, so it looks like a new part. Both parts have been cleaned, tested and given a new battery. To buy one of these remotes, you will need to call and speak to one of our customer service representatives. The number is 281-820-0300 or toll-free in the US at 877-719-1900. Choose option 2 for sales when the auto attendant answers.
