GM 3-Button Keyless Entry Remote with FCC ID KOBUT1BT

GM installed factory keyless entry systems that used remotes with FCC ID KOBUT1BT on many vehicles beginning as early as 1996 model sedans and running through the 2001 model year. Most of these remotes are 4-button remotes that were used on Buick, Cadillac, Chevrolet, Oldsmobile and Pontiac sedans. You can tell the sedan remotes because they are all 4-button remotes with a trunk icon for the rear function. GM uses another 4-button remote with FCC ID KOBUT1BT. It has a “Rear 2X” button icon on it and was used on many Chevy, Olds and GMC SUVs.

The lone 3-button remote with FCC ID KOBUT1BT is a truck and SUV keyfob used on Chevrolet, GMC and Oldsmobile vehicles.

All truck and SUV applications that used a remote with FCC ID KOBUT1BT are user programmable. There are other GM remotes that look identical to these remotes so, if you are buying a replacement remote for a GM vehicle of this era, you should check and see that the FCC on the back of your original remote matches the remote that you are buying.
