Keyless Entry Remote Key Fob for 2004 Kia Rio

A reader emailed Remotes Unlimited asking about a replacement remote control for her 2004 Rio. We wrote back to tell her that Kia did not install factory keyless entry systems on that model year of Rio. If her vehicle has a system installed, it is either a Hyundai dealer-installed system or an aftermarket alarm system.

The most common dealer-installed system uses a 3-button keyfob made by Code Alarm with FCC ID GOH-3BFM2497. This system and remote were made expressly for Kia, so the remote has a Kia logo on it and also has a Kia part number – UP990-AY062. It has sometimes been hard to find this remote, but Remotes Unlimited has a limited supply in stock.

See common Kia dealer-installed remote at this link.

Dealers or an alarm service company also could have installed an aftermarket system on the car. There is no way to know what this system might be without knowing critical information about the remote or about the control module in the vehicle.

One thing that is certain is that the system in this customer’s 2004 Kia Rio is user programmable. The common Kia dealer-installed system referenced above and all aftermarket alarm systems are user programmable.
