Replacement Remotes for 2001-02 Suzuki Vitara and XL-7

If you are buying a replacement car remote for a 2001-02 Suzuki Vitara or XL-7, be a little careful. Replacement remotes for these Suzuki applications are not programmable. In order to buy new keyfobs for these vehicles with 2001-02 model year and make them work, you need to buy a kit that includes a new control module and two new working remotes. The control module and remotes are already paired (synchronized), so no programming is necessary. Assuming your vehicle had factory keyless entry originally, you should be able to plug the wires from your old control module into the new one and be good to go. Unfortunately, these replacement kits are expensive (in the $400 range).

The 2001-02 Vitara and XL-7 are the only Suzuki vehicles that used this technology approach for factory keyless entry. For all other vehicles (including the Grand Vitara) and all other model years of the Vitara and XL-7, replacement keyfobs are available that do not require changing out the control module.
