Suzuki Dealer-Installed Keyless Entry Remotes

Suzuki was one of the most recent car manufacturers to offer factory keyless entry systems on its vehicles. In fact, through the 2000 model year, all Suzuki cars, vans and SUVs sold in North America offered only dealer-installed keyless entry systems rather than factory keyless entry systems. This means that the model of your pre-2001 Suzuki vehicle is irrelevant for purposes of determining what replacement remote control you need, though, on the Remotes Unlimited website, we still allow you to search for Suzuki remotes this way as a matter of convenience.

Two different dealer-installed systems were used. In the early 1990s, Suzuki dealers used a system manufactured by Advance Security. The original remote for this system was a 1-button keyfob with FCC ID H5O600-2 on the back of the case. This remote transmitter is no longer made. However, it can be replaced by a 2-button Hellfire remote (also made by Advance Security), which Remotes Unlimited does have in stock.

With the 1996 model year, Suzuki dealers started using a system manufactured by Autopage. The 2-button original remote for this system had the Suzuki brand on the front of the case and FCC ID B23AT54 on the back. Again, the original keyfob has been discontinued, but it can be replaced by another 2-button Autopage remote transmitter that is still available. Suzuki dealers offered the Autopage-made keyless entry system through the 2000 model year for all Suzuki vehicles. And, even though Suzuki offered a factory keyless entry system on the Swift, Vitara and XL-7 models beginning in 2001, the dealer-installed Autopage system was the only option for Grand Vitara vehicles all the way through 2003.

Here is our reply to this comment:

The 2001 Grand Vitara was not equipped with a factory keyless entry system. Suzuki dealers did offer a dealer-installed system for that vehicle made by Autopage that had a Suzuki brand on the keyfob case.

If your vehicle has a Suzuki dealer-installed system or most any other aftermarket alarm system installed and you need a new remote, then Remotes Unlimited can probably help you. See below. However, if your vehicle has no system installed on it at this point, Remotes Unlimited will not be able to help because we sell only the replacement remote transmitters. (Installing a keyless entry system is not always a simple installation process, so, if your vehicle does not already have a system, we would recommend that you have one installed at an aftermarket alarm shop. The leading aftermarket alarm system companies are Audiovox – with the Prestige and Pursuit brands – and DEI – with brands such as Avital, Clifford, Python and Viper.)

If a Suzuki dealer-installed system has been on the vehicle dating back to 2001, it most likely is the Suzuki-branded system made by Autopage. The remote for that system is no longer made; however, Remotes Unlimited offers a very similar-looking Autopage remote that is interchangeable with the Suzuki-branded remote. Here is the link for our website page that shows the Suzuki dealer-installed part and the available replacement:

If you have an original remote that looks like the keyfob pictured on this webpage and it has FCC ID B23AT54 on the back, you can order the Autopage part shown (RUI part # 153-1153). It will come with do-it-yourself programming instructions. If you encounter any problem when programming your system to accept the new remote, you can call us for free technical support.

If you have system on the vehicle but the original remote looks different than the part pictured, you may have a different alarm system in your vehicle. (Sometimes, Suzuki dealers install aftermarket alarm systems other than the Suzuki branded system.) In this case, I suggest you call and speak with one of our call center representatives who can help determine exactly what type of system is in your vehicle. Our call center is open Monday-Friday from 8am-8pm Central time. The toll-free number is 877-719-1900.

Hello, I have a 2001 Suzuki XL7 sold new in Canada with the factory key-less system. The remote no longer works, The battery has been replaced with no change. The info I have been able to locate, indicates the system is not programmable. The key-less module under the dash has the white connector & Does NOT say programmable. Is there a replacement module available that will plug into the factory connector? Thank-you.

What you are saying basically agrees with our information. 2001 XL-7s used a system for which the remotes and receiver are paired and there is no programming possible. So, if you no longer have a working remote and you wanted a Suzuki system, you would have to buy the whole system and replace it. The dealer list price on the receiver/remote package used to be a little over $400. I am not sure if you can even find one at this point. If you would like us to try to source one for you, let us know. My advice would be to have an aftermarket system installed. For the same money, you could probably get a system that included keyless entry, anti-theft and remote start features all in one.
