Buying a Car Remote

Buying a replacement keyless entry or aftermarket alarm remote for your car or truck can be a little bit scary. Replacement remotes can be hard to find, expensive, hard to program, . . . even mysterious. Unless you are an electrical engineer or a serious car person, the whole process by which pressing a button on your remote transmitter causes your doors to unlock or your engine to start is less than obvious.

Coupled with this is the fact that many of those who sell remotes on the Internet do not exactly inspire confidence. Some seem to offer a variety of keyfobs and have some part information, but their websites look as if they were created yesterday from an off-the-shelf template. Others are well-crafted sites, but all they show you is an image of a remote and expect you to order based on a picture. Still others sell on the catalog shopping services and don’t even have a business entity or website of their own.

Because some of us at Remotes Unlimited are remote geeks, we sometimes place bets on how many different solutions we will find if we search for the same part on 10 different websites. To break ties, the person finding the most factual errors wins.

Whether it is part specification, the purchase transaction or programming support after purchase, we think a customer really wants and deserves a knowledgeable vendor they can trust. That is what Remotes Unlimited strives to offer.
