CompuStar 1-button remote start transmitters with FCC ID VA5JR760AM433

CompuStar has marketed many add-on remote start systems that use a 1-button remote transmitter with FCC ID VA5JR760AM433. There are many styles and part numbers associated with these key fobs. They were used on systems marketed under the CompuStar, Arctic Start, FTX and NuStart brands.

The best way to make sure you buy the correct replacement remote for your system is to match the part number from the sticker on the back of your old remote. These part numbers include 1BR-AM, 1BAMR, 1BR-SH, 1WR1R-AM, and variants of these that put an abbreviation of the system brand in front of these basic identifiers – such as AR1WR1R-AM for the Arctic Start branded version of the 1WR1R-AM remote.

You can see most of these parts by searching the Remotes Unlimited website using the FCC ID number. Or simply go to the following link:

The systems that use these remotes are easily programmed to accept an additional remote. When you buy a remote from Remotes Unlimited, programming instructions and free phone tech support are included.

Buying a Replacement Remote Key Fob for Your Factory Keyless Entry or Add-on Alarm or Remote Start System

Many consumers struggle with the challenge of buying a replacement automotive remote control. If their vehicle has a factory keyless entry system and no add-on system has ever been added, then searching by the make model and year of the vehicle usually leads to an acceptable result but not always. There are split years, when more than one system was used on a vehicle and they use non-compatible remote key fobs.

A better way to shop for a replacement remote is to buy a transmitter that matches the one you have in hand for reference and that you know worked with your vehicle. Most remotes have an FCC ID on the back. By law, all radio-frequency transmitters are supposed to have this identifier on the outside of the remote. However, some manufacturers put it inside the case or printed in the key channel of a smart key or flip key in text so small you may need a magnifying glass to see it. Searching by the FCC ID is an excellent way to shop for most remotes. The following link from our website provides a fairly comprehensive list of automotive remote FCC IDs: FCC ID List for Automotive Remote Transmitters

Even an FCC search has its limits. In some cases you have to know the circuit board of your remote or the model-year of your vehicle. In other cases, automotive manufacturers have made buying a remote so complicated that you have to provide a VIN (vehicle identification number).

The single best way to search for a remote transmitter is by the original equipment (OE) manufacturer’s part number. In some cases, this number is also provided on the back or inside of a key fob. If it is not and you know that your system is the factory-installed keyless entry system, you can always call a dealership, provide your VIN, and ask them to tell you the correct replacement part number for your remote. If you buy a replacement remote with the same OE part number, whether your vehicle has a factory system or an add-on alarm or remote start system, you are almost certain to end up with the correct transmitter.

Replacement Remote Key Fobs for Discontinued Toyota Transmitters with FCC ID BAB237131-022

Toyota used two different remotes with FCC ID BAB237131-022 with port-installed or dealer-installed systems in the late 1990s and early in this millennium. These remotes looked similar. One had a black case and the other a dark grey case. The easiest way to tell which of these you have is to compare the color of the buttons with the color of the case. Both remotes have black buttons. So, for the remote with the black case, the buttons and case are the same color. For the remote with the dark grey case, the case is just slightly lighter than the buttons.

Toyota makes replacement remotes for both of these transmitters. They look different from the original remotes, but once again, look very similar to each other. The original remotes and replacement keyfob for each are shown below.

Both remotes are user programmable and come with instructions and free phone tech support.

Replacement Toyota Port/Dealer-Installed Keyless Entry System Remote Transmitter with FCC ID ELVATDD

A reader with a 2006 Toyota Sequoia asked about a replacement for his remote keyfob with FCC ID ELVATDD.

Through 2010 or so, Toyota used port-installed keyless entry systems on many imported vehicles that did not have factory-installed systems. Some of these, including many Sequoia vehicles, use a remote transmitter with FCC ID ELVATDD and 4 buttons. Others used a 3-button ELVATDD key fob. Both of these parts have been discontinued by Toyota.

The Remotes Unlimited part number for the original 4-button remote is 289-1289. The button functions are lock, unlock and rear window roll-down on the front and panic on the back. The 3-button version of this remote is RUI part 092-6435. It can replace the 4-button part used on Sequoia vehicles, but the rear window function will be lost. Remotes Unlimited stocks gently used (B-Grade) 092-6435 remotes for the value price of $24.00.

You can see the 4-button original transmitter and purchase a B-Grade 3-button replacement remote at the following link:

Toyota has recently added a new 3-button dealer-installed remote transmitter. It has a different FCC ID — ELVATRF — and a different circuit board, but it will replace the old 3-button remote with FCC ID ELVATDD. You can see and purchase this new RUI remote with part number 092-7331 for $49.00 at the following link:

Replacement Factory Keyless Entry Remote Transmitters for Nissan 3-button Key Fobs with FCC ID KBRASTU10

A site visitor wrote to our blog asking about a replacement remote for his 3-button Nissan remote keyfob with FCC ID KBRASTU10. Unfortunately, the KBRASTU10 remotes were a poor design and pose a lot of confusion for customers trying to buy the correct replacement remote. There are three different parts (models). Only one of these has a replacement remote that is different and better made than the original KBRASTU10 part. In order to know which remote one has, you have to look on the back of your original remote.

If your original part shows a Nissan part number ending in 2W602 and no model number, then it is no longer made and Nissan dealers are very unlikely to have it in stock. Remotes Unlimited does not have any in inventory at this time.

If your original part shows a part number ending in 2W601 or 5W505 and model /A on the back, it is our part 720-1720. We do have both new and used 720-1720 remotes in stock. If you want to try buying a used replacement part to see if it operates better than your current remote, you will need to call us (at 281-820-0300) because we do not sell the used part on our website.

If your original remote shows a part number ending in 7Z460 or model /01A on the back, it is our part 501-1501. That part can be replaced by a newer replacement remote, which is our part 503-1503.

All vehicles that originally used a KBRASTU10 remote can be programmed by the user to accept a new transmitter.
