A blog reader was confused by conflicting information about Infiniti FX-35 keyless entry remotes. So here are the facts:
Infiniti produced FX-35 and FX-45 vehicles for the 2003-2008 model years. Throughout this period, vehicles had keyless entry systems that used a 3-button keyfob remote with lock, unlock and panic buttons.

Beginning with the 2006 model year, Infiniti offered push-button start as an option on some FX-35 and FX-45 vehicles. These vehicles use a proximity (“smart-key”) remote transmitter instead of the keyfob used for vehicles with keyed ignitions. This proximity remote has the same three buttons on the front. One proximity remote, RUI part 750-1750, was used on all FX-45 vehicles with push-button start through the 2008 model year. Part 750-1750 was also used on FX-35 vehicles with push-button start produced through February 2008.

Then, right at the end of FX-35 production, Infiniti switched to a different keyless entry system on its push-button start vehicles. So, FX-35 vehicles produced from March 2008 through the end of the model year used RUI part 999-1999. Note that the two proximity remote transmitters are virtually identical, so, if you have a 2008 FX-35, you should not buy a replacement remote without knowing the production date of your vehicle or the Infiniti part number your vehicle requires.

Please note that the keyfob remote used on vehicles with a keyed ignition is user programmable, but the proximity remotes require programming at a dealership.
