We receive many calls each day from customers who need assistance programming their new keyfob. Recently, we have received a growing number of calls from people seeking programming assistance even though they did not purchase a remote from Remotes Unlimited or one of the retail outlets we support. We can only conclude that other remote control sellers are not supporting their customers effectively. So, if you are buying a replacement car or truck remote, we recommend you check to see how the seller supports programming.
Remotes Unlimited includes programming instructions with all of the remotes we sell if the remote transmitter sold is user programmable for any application. (If the remote is not user programmable, we include labels that explain that as well.) We provide phone technical support, free of charge, to customers who have purchased a Remotes Unlimited replacement keyfob. However, if a customer has purchased a replacement remote elsewhere and needs programming instructions or phone tech support, we do charge $10.00. It is not that we are greedy; it is just that we would not be in business if we provided technical support for all of those other web sellers who fail to support their products.
It is important for customers to understand that they may not have success with the programming process for reasons that have nothing to do with the remote transmitter or the instructions. The systems in some vehicles – especially those which are very old – may not go into programming mode. If so, this indicates a problem with the system or wiring in the vehicle. It has nothing to do with the remote transmitter. Of course, if you encounter this problem and you purchased your replacement remote from Remotes Unlimited, we will gladly accept your return of the part.
