Kia and Hyundai Proximity (“Smart Key”) Remotes with FCC ID SY5HMFNA04

Many people do not realize that Kia and Hyundai are related companies. As a result, they coordinate much of their sourcing through the same prime contractors. This is why it is not surprising that FCC ID SY5HMFNA04 appears on both a Kia proximity remote and a similar remote from Hyundai.

Proximity remotes with FCC ID SY5HMFNA04.

These two remote transmitters are easily distinguished by the buttons on the front and the logo on the back. The Kia remote has a lift gate button icon, while the Hyundai remote has a trunk button icon. Despite the fact that these two remotes have the same FCC ID, that does not make them interchangeable. Many Kia and Hyundai key fobs share FCC IDs but are not interchangeable.

Please note that both of these proximity remotes require dealership programming with a scan tool.

      Gary:

Sorry this response is more than 2 weeks after your contact inquiry was submitted on our blog site. I have been on vacation and am behind in my responses.

Hyundai used keyless entry systems with two different smart key transmitters on its 2017 Sonata Hybrid vehicles. They are not interchangeable and they are a different technology than all prior-model-year Hyundai Sonata transmitters. They are expensive, both with dealer list price of $260.63. To our knowledge, there is no aftermarket replacement remote made for your Sonata Hybrid. (If there is, it probably is being imported and sold illegally, without FCC certification.)

Also, these remotes are not user programmable, so you will have to take the replacement transmitter and your vehicle to a dealership or locksmith for programming. (We find that locksmiths often charge less than dealerships for this service. We also find that some dealerships are uncooperative about programming a remote bought elsewhere, even when that remote is a Hyundai OE part.)

One part is Hyundai part number 95440-C1000-NNA (Remotes Unlimited part 089-7067). The other is Hyundai part 95440-C1500-NNA (our part 089-7074). In order to buy the right part, you should purchase according to the OE part number you need. You can find this out by calling a dealership and asking them the correct part for your VIN. Or you can provide us with the VIN and we can determine which part you need.

Our normal retail price for these remotes is $249.00. However, because I was slow in responding to your inquiry, we could offer you a slightly better price. I will send a separate message to your email address with more information about that.
